Privacy policy - consent of personal data processing

Personal data - Definition

The term "personal data" refers to measurements of energy consumption and/or temperature, humidity through IoT sensors that have been pre-installed in your home in the framework of the research funded Interconnect project (https://interconnectproject.eu/). It is clarified that personal data such as full name, home address, phone number, ID number, VAT number, gender, etc. are not collected or stored and consequently, there is no possibility to associate the person with the measurements collected.

Personal data processing

The personal data of the participants will be processed, to the extent necessary, in order to enable their "visualization" through an application on the user's mobile phone. In addition, they may be used to evaluate the participants' consumption behaviour and/or improve their energy efficiency through visualised recommendations and aggregated results, with the ultimate aim of saving electricity consumption.

The purposes of processing the above mentioned personal data can be summarized as follows:

Transmission of personal data

The use of such data will only concern exclusively the partners participating in the InterConnect research project and more specifically COSMOTE Mobile Telecommunications Monoprosopi S.A., GRIDNET S.A., HERON MONOPROSOPI S.A. ENERGY SERVICES, Athens University of Economics and Business - Research Centre (AUEB-RC), WINGS ICT Solutions Information & Communication Technologies IKE (WINGS) and Inetum - Realdolmen S.A. The project partners will not process your personal data for purposes other than those mentioned above.

Such data will not be transmitted to third parties under any circumstances. If it is required to be made available to third parties, this will only be done after you have been informed and we have obtained your consent.

Personal Data Security

The partners have implemented appropriate technical measures to ensure the secure processing of such personal data and to prevent unauthorised and/or unlawful access to them. In any case, the way the internet works does not guarantee that unauthorised third parties will not breach the technical measures in place by accessing and possibly using personal data for unauthorised and/or illegitimate purposes.

Even if an unauthorized third party gains access to such personal data, it can in no way associate them with the owner, since, as explained, data such as full name, home address, telephone number, etc., are neither collected nor stored.

In the event of a personal data security breach, it will be reported to the competent authorities and you will be notified accordingly.

Finally, it is noted that the user of the application will have access to his/her own data/measurements only. The identification of users by the system will be conducted with nicknames and passwords.

Rights of the application user

The rights you can exercise include:

Right of access: You have the right to receive information about your personal data that we process (e.g. the purposes of processing, the types of data, the recipients to whom they are disclosed, the period for which they are kept).

Right to restrict processing: You have the right to request the restriction of processing for a specific purpose.

Right to erasure: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data at any time.

For any further clarification on the exercise of your rights or to make a request, please send an e-mail to: ds@gridnet.gr

Finally, you reserve the right to submit a written complaint to the competent supervisory authority, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Kifissias 1-3, PC 115 23, Athens, Greece +30 210 6475600, email: contact@dpa.gr).

Retention of Personal Data

The data/metrics will be retained for a period of three (3) months after the official end of the Interconnect project (Dec/2023), unless the project is extended (e.g. due to Covid), and will then be deleted.
